Charles O’Brian Streeter, widely known as Streeter, is a gifted drummer whose talents led his late grandfather, Billie C Streeter, to purchase his first drum set at the age of two. It was his grandfather’s support that would inspire Streeter to pursue his craft relentlessly. Twenty years later, Streeter would find himself packing everything he owned to leave his native hometown of Memphis, TN, and follow his dreams all the way to Los Angeles, CA. Streeter has become an instant success out west, specializing in the genres of R&B, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Pop, and Rock.
Currently on tour with Chaka Khan, Streeter has been praised for his solid pocket, tasteful approach, sound musicianship, and the positive energy he brings to any session. Streeter exudes passion and depth every time he takes a seat behind a drum set.
Performing with Chaka Khan has led to appearances on various syndicated programs, such as David Letterman and The Today Show, AOL sessions and a host of jazz festivals. Streeter has had the opportunity to share the stage with musical greats: Musiq Soulchild, Bobby Brown, Ali Woodson (Temptations), George Johnson (The Brother’s Johnson), and has shared studios and stages with many others.
Growing up in the South, soul music was a way of life and a right of passage for many musicians. Streeter rose to the occasion, marching in the band for the White Haven High School Tigers, being selected as section leader from the percussion section and the highest honor of Drum Major. Streeter also marched for the University of Memphis.
Charles O’Brian Streeter is the father to Anaya Marcia Streeter. He is the son of Cheri Streeter and Herbert Greene and the brother to Cristti Streeter. He is the grandson of Beverley B. Streeter, the late Billie C. Streeter and Mr. James and Gwendolyn Herbart.
