My father was a drummer.I started playing along with Jams Brown records at five years old on my fathers orange sparkle Slingerland drumset. Started playing gigs while in high school. My cousin Perry Wilson and I listened to all the music we could and learned the drum parts "Lick for Lick" as we would say.Sometimes my dad(Phillard) would peek in on us and say to us,"Yall need to be swinging ".That made us check out the jazz cat's . I started having children early on and have been working as a drummer since my first child was born.
Many different experiences has shaped me and my musicianship.
Music still fuels me after years of playing.Every time I sit down to play music I look forward to establishing and maintaining a great feeling that the music will dictate, with other musicians. Now my youngest son(Mehlo) has started to play drums. Three generations of drummers.
