CIRCUS OF SAINTS UPDATE

COS has a monthly hit at Bossa, 2463 18th St NW, in DC. We typically do this the last night of the month. The band is congealing nicely and building a following. It's nice to be able to play original music and get out of the basement.

The current lineup features John Kocur and Murad Hussain on reeds. Very feisty. If you're in the area, come on out.

Prog related site

I found a ning network related to prog, and set up a site there too:

http://progrock.ning.com/profile/NickCosta

The site lets you put up 100 mp3s 10 MB or less in size, so if you've been meaning to set up a web presence, it might be worth a look.

It's also dolphin safe.

New Circus of Saints CD is out!

Circus of Saints Trio, featuring uber bassoonista Dana Jessen, plus Bill Sokol on fretless picollo bass and yours truly on drum set, is now available in glorious plastic. Price is $10.00 plus SH&H, which should run about $3.00 in the US.

You can hear some of it on the player here, as well as here:

I'm about to get crackin' on new stuff very soon. As a matter of fact, I'm waitin' to hear from Greg Baril tonight or in the morn 'bout a call from Nashville for us as a backing band for a blues artist we did the Springin' the Blues Festival back in May. Looks like my plate may be full, but I ain't complainin' 'bout it, I'm grateful. Poogie and I did a hit together back in June on the beach along with Trevor Sommerville, and it was a blast doin' a show with Maurice Hines at the Ritz Theatre for their 10th Anniversary Rent Party. To watch Maurice warm up before the show. Priceless. I'm also workin' with the theatre's jazz orchestra, so that's cool. Did some tributes there as well like the Crusaders and Jazz Crusaders, Ben Webster, Dexter Gordon, and Lester Young, stuff like that.

Thanks Nick,

actually i've bought one last year. oh yeah, it's one of the best investments i've made. i've been trying to get into REASON and ABLETON LIVE and it's been really neat. it's challenging me to dabble in writing tunes.

Hello Nick,

thanks for your kind words. Yes, (on Drumography) everything was done through a click except for that last 'free form' solo. the recording is over 10 years old. it's the only thing i have documented that seemed polished. I just wanted showcase as best as I could my versatility in different styles. Nothing groundbreaking, just wanted to show that i could support the music.

Yes I have a few from the BET jazz awards with marc cary, and some tv shows I did with hip-hop artist. planning on digging those up and posting them. Also I might just video tape some of the next performances on tour with JT Taylor and put them up. talk with you later...POOF!!!!!!!
