- Grew up in Jamaica Queens NYC, where music was flowing and where, Marcus Miller, Omar Hakim, Tony Thompson, Lenny White, Billy Cobham, Ronny Drayton, Bernard Wright, Alex Blake, etc. came from, studied with the late Freddie Waits and also Micheal Carvin, Attended The City College of New York where John Lewis, Jaki Byard and Charlie Palmieri were teaching, as well as Ed Sumerlin, Played and/or recorded with Sting, Roy Ayers, Phylliss Hyman, Stanley Turrentine, Marlena Shaw, Lena Horne, Lou Reed, Don Pullen, Herbie Hancock,Terri Thornton, Tina Turner, Teddy Pendergrass, Ruben Blades, Vanessa Williams (and has been Vanessa's drummer for the past 11 years), Herbie Hancock, David Murray, Sonny Sharrock, Henry Threadgill, Teramasu Hino, Jack Bruce, Pete Cosey, Bill Laswell, Howard Johnson, Marc Ribot, Joe Bowie, Stanley Jordan, Jamaaledeen Tacuma, Jean Paul Bourelly, Kenny Kirkland, Dave Sanborn, Kip Hanrahan, Vernon Reid, and many more, co-leader of band HARRIET TUBMAN(feat. Melvin Gibbs, bass, and Brandon Ross guitars), J.T's musical range is well known and is why he's been in demand for more than 2 decades !!!
