First show that I saw was "Jackie Wilson" at age 12. The drummer that night was Rufus "Speedy" Jones. That tripped me out. The next drummer that I saw was Maurice White, playing for Ramsey Lewis. I was done. Next was James Brown, Clyde and Jabo and one drummer that seemed to have slipped through the cracks was Nate Jones. (Popcorn) Not to mention the local drummers I thought were awesome, Larry Ross, Robert Trezvant, Maurice Heygood and Jackie Morton. All of these guys inspired me in my formative years and started a life long quest to be "one of the guys". Went into the military and seemed to have played everywhere I went. Stayed in LA and pursued the music game as a studio musician. Played on a couple of hit records as well as formed a recording band. The inspiration didn't stop with those guys, along came "Billy Cobham", "Alphonse Mouzon", "Lenny White", "Ndugu Chancelor" and "Dennis Chambers". Dennis, after the Beverly Theater Show with P-Funk, I knew I had work to do. Thanks my brother. I found it necessary to meet the guys that were working to get as much information about the drums to further boost my career. How lucky could I be. I met "James Gatson" and "Melvin Webb" two Kansas City cats that took me under their wings and showed me the way. Best five years and a half years. I am forever thankful for them, all of them. Looking back, there were a lot of guys that I thank for taking the time just to talk to me. To name a few, Louie Bellson, thanks for the summer of 92 and 94, added logs to the fire. Harvey Mason, Jeff "Tain" Watts, I tripped when I saw you at one of the Fro Brother gigs and at the Tonight Show. Barry Chenault, I thought you were sick when I first heard you. I was right....Those that I can't think of right now, much respect and lotsa love to you all. Thanks Poogie.
My first kit was a "Star". My next was the "Tama Superstar 1975, still got it. I am currrenty playing the Pacific LX Series with Sabian Cymbals, Gibraltar Hardware or the Pearl Icon rack, Vater 7A, Jazz Ride and 8A. I use the DW 5000 and the Pearl Eliminator pedals.

Hey Brutha George!! I've been offline for a while, so my apologies. How have ya been other than busy my friend? I've just been tryin' to stay busy as I can. I ran into Poogie, Victor Bailey, Vince, Paul Taylor, and Alex bugnon back in June on a hit with them in Jax Beach, and a few weeks ago, was honored to do a hit with Maurice Hines and the Harlem Heyday Troop for the Ritz Theatre's 10th Anniversary Rent Party. Man, to watch Maurice warm up before the show. Priceless. I've been checkin' out Maceo's "Roots n' Groove" album w/Dennis hittin' on it. What can I say other than bad to the bone!!! D swings his ass off!! Send a line when you can bruh. One Love.
