About Me:
Felipe was born in Germany, spent his childhood in Colombia, Staten Island and the last 15 years in New Jersey. He started playing drums at 14 with a private teacher, and in high school played in every group he could from marching band to chorus and was voted Band President by senior year. It was that year that Felipe started taking lessons at New York City's Drummers Collective with such notables as Sandy Gennaro, Mike Clark, Ian Froman, Guy Licata, Vince Cherico, Gary Kelly.
Through the years in the New York area, Felipe also studied privately with Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez, Robby Ameen, Matt Johnson, Billy Ward, and Joe Ascione.
Felipe has been performing, recording, teaching and touring for the last 10 years. He has done US and Canada tours with Dreamworks artists OURS, Road Runner Records blues artist Peter Karp and the Roadshow and jump/jazz band Jumptime, Lizard King Records rock band Surefire, The Monkees, and for the last few years as drummer/back-up vocalist for the Davy Jones Band. He is also currently in an original progressive/fusion/rock trio INMUST, playing with New York's own Jerry Cherry, and completing a the first double album with double drum set menace, TSN.
Felipe specializes in teaching beginners on drumset and orchestral percussion, reading, rudiments, and various styles of music.
This winter, he received his first official endorsement with EVANS Drumheads.
